Lancettes: Joining LP School Spirit with

Our Love for Dance Performance

The Lancettes are students who strive for excellence in both technique and performance in their dance routines.  The dancers incorporate a variety of dance styles into their performances including pom, jazz, hip hop, kick and lyrical.  Lancettes perform at halftime of all home football and basketball games.  Additionally, the team participates in Team Dance competitions.

Varsity and JV Lancettes auditions are held in April or May and are open to incoming 9th through 12th graders.  Our season is lengthy, as summer rehearsals and camp begin in June and competitions take place from November through March.  During the school year, practices are held after school or in the evening.

JV practices at least twice a week, while Varsity practices at least three times a week.  Additional rehearsals are scheduled when necessary.  We’ll see you on the performance floor!

The Future of Competitive Dance Teams

Lancettes is part of an emerging sport initiative.  As of the 2012-2013  the IHSA now recognizes dance competition as a sport.  Lake  Park Lancettes are  looking forward to the ISHA competition season starting in mid  November. (Link to IHSA)
